You may think you know Carrie White from Stephen King’s worldwide best selling novel. But you’ve never seen her like Theatre Couture sees her, in this eye-popping, rib-tickling comic horror thrill ride written by Erik Jackson.

Poor Carrie. At home she’s abused by her religious fanatic mother. At school, she’s the butt of every joke. And to top it all off, she just got her very first period in the locker room showers. Her nasty classmates, including the beautiful but brutal Chris Hargensen think they have the upper hand but Carrie knows revenge and with her ability to move objects using her mind the upcoming prom turns from dream-come-true to nightmare from hell.

Filtered through the uniquely twisted sensibility of the critically acclaimed, Theatre Couture, Carrie is helmed by Josh Rosenzweig (Theatre Couture’s resident director) and features thrilling visual effects by Obie Award winner Basil Twist (Symphonie Fantastique). Set Design is by Tobin Ost, costumes by David Moyer and lighting by Paul Hackenmueller. Original Music and Sound Design is created by Robert Kaplowitz.

Starring in this soon to be theatrical classic as Carrie is drag actor Sherry Vine (aka Keith Levy), Theatre Couture’s perennial leading lady. In the iconic role of Margaret White, a.k.a. the mother, is Kate Goehring. Keri Meoni, Kathy Searle, Rafi Silver, Matt Wilkas and Marnye Young fill out the student body of Ewen High School with David Ilku as the principal and Danielle Skraastad as the gym teacher.

Theatre Couture is staging an outrageous and surprisingly poignant new adaptation of Stephen King’s horror classic, Carrie. Carrie is the first show in six years from the troupe that Time Out New York named “the natural successors of Charles Ludlam’s Theater of the Ridiculous.”
