This winter, Parsons Dance Company will bring two electrifying programs to the Joyce Theater
The Nascimento Project, a new collaboration with Brazilian music legend Milton Nascimento, melds uplifting and highly charged dance with the sensual music of this worldwide sensation. Other works this season include a new dramatic work with a contemporary classical score, a revival of Ring Around The Rosie, not seen in New York for over a decade, last year‘s hit In the End with music by the Dave Matthews Band, and an unforgettable female solo for one of Parsons’ breathtaking performers.
The Parsons Dance Company will be at the Joyce from December 5 through December 17 (Tue - Wed 7:30pm, Thu - Fri 8pm, Sat 2pm & 8pm, Sun 2pm & 7:30pm). Tickets will be $42 for the general publich and $32 for Joyce members.

The Parsons Dance Company is comprised of nine full-time dancers and maintains a repertory of over 70 works (20 with commissioned scores) by Mr. Parsons. A primary goal of the Company is to allow Mr. Parsons to create as many new works as possible and to commission original musical scores and theatrical designs from leading artists as well as introducing new dances created by members of the Company. The Company is widely recognized for its community-based residencies and has given hundreds of master classes, lecture-demonstrations and workshops, benefiting thousands of people of every age. The Company has conducted extensive statewide tours with massive residency components in Wisconsin, Delaware and Ohio.
In 1991, the Company was filmed by Danmarks Radio for a television program that has been broadcast in the United States, Europe, and South America. It was also featured on television in South America. In the United States, television features have included the PBS television series Behind the Scenes that was broadcast throughout the United States in the Fall of 1992, the Bravo cable network, A & E Television Network and the New Jersey Channel, among others. In 1994, The Parsons Dance Company and the Billy Taylor Trio were featured in a live broadcast by Nebraska ETV Network, performing their collaborative work, Step Into My Dream. The Parsons Dance Company has received public funding since 1989 from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York State Council on the Arts.
The Company performed in NYC on New Year’s Eve for Times Square 2000, the 24-hour performance marathon that celebrated the arrival of the Millennium in every time zone in the world. In addition to being featured on CBS Sunday Morning and the Discovery Channel, the Company’s performances for this project were seen by the millions who packed Times Square as well as one billion worldwide who watched the festivities via satellite. The Parsons Dance Company makes its home on the New 42nd Street right in the creative heart of New York City.
